Due to the fact that there are not enough drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in Wyoming, drug addicts are forced to look elsewhere. Wyoming drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers offer various treatment programs. These treatment programs are dependent upon the individual’s nature and extent of substance abuse. The treatment programs can be classified into three main categories. For starters, there is the use of medication to treat addiction. This mode of treatment is also known as
pharmacotherapy.

Under this approach, a number of drugs e.g. Methadone and Buprenorphine are used to treat morphine, heroine, oxycodone and other drug dependencies. The second type of treatment approach is known as psychoanalytic treatment. This model of treatment focuses upon specific triggers which bring about substance abuse. The model seeks to reduce and stop substance abuse by reducing the effectiveness of these triggers by environment change and controlling driving impulses among other approaches.

The third model of treatment is known as behavioral model. This treatment model focuses on the substance abuser and his or her family. The model seeks to help the addict overcome his or her addiction through the use of problem solving techniques. Secondly, the model helps the user build a meaningful relation with his or her family members through various counseling sessions.
